Engwe M20 26Ah Dual-Battery Fat Tyre Electric Bike

The Engwe M20 26Ah is the dual-battery version of Engwe's moped-styled fat tyre electric bike, built for long-distance commuting and weekend exploring across Ireland. Two removable 48V 13Ah packs give a combined 1,248Wh and up to 75km + 75km of assisted range, so range anxiety simply is not part of the ride. A 55Nm brushless motor assists to the road-legal 25km/h EU limit, 20" x 4.0" triple-layer fat tyres and dual suspension soak up Irish road surfaces, and a Shimano 7-speed drivetrain with 160mm disc brakes keeps it easy to live with. Available in Green, Kenshi Black and White at Inner City Scooters, Dublin.

No Range Anxiety

The 26Ah version carries two full 48V 13Ah batteries rather than one. Each is rated at up to 75km in assist level 1, so a full pair covers up to 150km before either needs a socket.

Engwe M20 dual battery range comparison, 75km plus 75km versus a single battery e-bike

Twice the Battery, Roughly Twice the Distance

Both packs lift out with a key for indoor charging, and each takes around 5 hours to fill. Ride on one and keep the second as a spare, or run both for the long days. Real-world range depends on rider weight, assist level, terrain and temperature, so treat 150km as the best case rather than the everyday figure.

Engwe M20 ridden across city, forest and mountain terrain

Effortless Riding on Any Terrain

Wide fat tyres, dual suspension and a low standover height make the M20 forgiving for riders of all experience levels. City kerbs, canal towpaths, forest track and gravel are all within its comfort zone.

Engwe M20 dual suspension system, front hydraulic fork and rear air shock

Comfort in Every Mile

A front hydraulic suspension fork works with a rear air shock absorber, which Engwe rates at roughly twice the shock absorbance of a standard single-suspension e-bike. Combined with the 4-inch tyres, it takes most of the sting out of broken tarmac.

Adventure-Driven Design

The moped-style frame, long bench saddle and integrated rear rack give the M20 its distinctive look, while the 6061 aluminium alloy construction keeps the frame around 40 percent lighter than a high-carbon steel equivalent.

FAQ about the Engwe M20 26Ah Electric Bike

Is the Engwe M20 road-legal in Ireland?
Yes. This is the EU version: the motor is rated at 250W and assistance cuts off at 25km/h, which meets the EU pedelec (EPAC) standard, so it is treated like a bicycle in Ireland with no tax, insurance or licence required. Ride it in pedal-assist on public roads. Engwe documents a throttle mode on this model, but a throttle-driven e-bike is not a pedelec under Irish rules, so keep any throttle use to private land.
What is the difference between the 13Ah and 26Ah versions?
Only the battery. The 13Ah version carries one 48V 13Ah pack; the 26Ah version carries two, for 1,248Wh combined and roughly double the range. Frame, motor, brakes, suspension and drivetrain are identical. This page is the 26Ah dual-battery build.
What is the real-world range?
Engwe rates each 48V 13Ah pack at up to 75km in assist level 1, so up to 150km on both. In everyday Irish riding expect meaningfully less: roughly 45km to 75km per battery depending on rider weight, assist level, hills, headwind, tyre pressure and temperature. Cold weather and high assist levels cost the most range.
How long does it take to charge?
About 5 hours per battery from empty with the supplied charger. One charger is included, so charging both packs back to back takes roughly 10 hours. Both batteries lift out with a key, so you can charge them indoors rather than leaving the bike plugged in outside.
Can I ride it in the rain?
Yes. The M20 is rated IPX4 against splashing water, which covers normal Irish rain and wet roads. Avoid submerging the bike or pressure-washing the motor, battery contacts and connectors, and dry the chain and rotors after a wet ride.
How heavy is it, and does it fold?
The M20 does not fold. Engwe quotes 34.8kg for the 13Ah bike, and the second battery adds roughly 3.2kg, so the 26Ah build is around 38kg. Both batteries are removable, which takes real weight out if you need to lift it. Shipping weight for the 26Ah version is 45.9kg gross.
Will it fit my height?
Engwe quotes a rider height range of 5'2" to 6'2", roughly 157cm to 188cm. Minimum saddle height is 84cm and standover height is 76.2cm, so check those against your inside leg if you are near the lower end. Payload capacity is 120kg including rider and any luggage.
Are the colours different in any way?
No. Green, Kenshi Black and White are the same bike with a different finish, all with the same motor, batteries, brakes and suspension.
Does it come assembled, and how much work is involved?
It arrives largely assembled with the handlebars already fitted. You will normally fit the front wheel, pedals and mudguard, then check the brakes and gears. The assembly tool kit is in the box, and Engwe's own assembly video is above. Our Dublin workshop can also build and safety-check the bike for you before collection.
Is the M20 eligible for the Bike to Work scheme?
Yes. The M20 is a pedelec e-bike and qualifies under the Irish Cycle to Work scheme through Inner City Scooters. Get in touch before you order and we will issue the quotation your employer needs.
Do you deliver across Ireland and the EU?
Yes. Inner City Scooters ships the Engwe M20 across Ireland and the EU. In-stock bikes usually arrive within a few working days in Ireland, with tracking as soon as the order is dispatched. EU delivery times vary by country.
What warranty and servicing come with it?
The M20 comes with a manufacturer warranty, and as a Dublin-based store we handle parts, servicing and warranty claims directly rather than sending you to an overseas supplier. Instalment options may be available at checkout depending on the payment methods enabled on innercityscooters.com.
