Engwe P20 Lightweight Folding Electric Bike

The Engwe P20 is a genuinely light folding electric bike built for city commuting in Ireland. At 18.5kg it is one of the easiest e-bikes to carry up steps or lift onto a train, and it folds in three steps in about ten seconds. A 250W rear hub motor with a real torque sensor gives 42Nm of natural-feeling assistance up to the road-legal 25km/h limit, and a 36V 9.6Ah internal battery is rated at up to 100km per charge. A carbon belt drive replaces the chain, so there is nothing to oil and nothing to mark your trousers, and hydraulic disc brakes handle wet Dublin streets. Available in White, Green and Kenshi Black at Inner City Scooters, Dublin.

Cycling Never Felt So Right

A torque sensor, a carbon belt drive, hydraulic brakes and an 18.5kg frame, in a folder that still meets the EU pedelec rules for Irish roads, greenways and cycle lanes.

Designed for Urban Commuting

Ultra-lightweight, quick to fold and easy to store. The P20 is built around the awkward parts of a city commute: the stairs at the station, the hallway with no bike space, the boot of a small car.

Built Around the Details

Engwe P20 carbon belt drive and crank, maintenance free transmission

Carbon Belt Drive

No chain to oil, no grease on your clothes and far less maintenance than a derailleur setup. It runs quietly and cleanly all year.

Engwe P20 cockpit with SW102 display, hydraulic brake lever and thumb throttle

SW102 Display and Cockpit

A compact backlit display for speed, battery and assist level, alongside hydraulic brake levers and a slim, uncluttered bar.

Engwe P20 removable 36V 9.6Ah internal battery with key lock

Key-Locked Internal Battery

The 36V 9.6Ah pack sits inside the frame and comes out with a key, so you can charge indoors and leave nothing worth stealing on the bike.

Engwe P20 front fork, mudguard and integrated headlight

Lights and Mudguards Fitted

An integrated headlight and front and rear mudguards come as standard, so the bike is ready for a wet Irish morning out of the box.

Engwe P20 rear hub motor and integrated rear light at night

250W Hub Motor and Rear Light

A quiet 250W rear hub motor with 42Nm of torque, and a rear light built into the frame so you stay visible from behind.

Engwe P20 folded, viewed from above

Magnetic Tyre Fixation

Folded, the wheels hold together magnetically so the bike stays as one compact package rather than flopping open when you carry it.

Fold It in Three Steps

About ten seconds from ridden to carried, and under 0.3 cubic metres folded. At 90 x 42 x 62cm it goes in a car boot, under a desk, or into a hall press.

Three Colourways

White, Green and Kenshi Black are mechanically identical. Pick the finish you prefer at the top of this page.

FAQ about the Engwe P20 Folding Electric Bike

Is the Engwe P20 road-legal in Ireland?
Yes. The motor is rated at 250W and assistance cuts off at 25km/h, which meets the EU pedelec (EPAC) standard, so it is treated like a bicycle in Ireland with no tax, insurance or licence required. A thumb throttle is supplied in the box; a throttle-driven e-bike is not a pedelec under Irish rules, so we recommend pedal-assist on public roads and keeping throttle use to private land.
How heavy is it, really?
18.5kg with the battery in, which is genuinely light for an e-bike and the main reason people choose the P20 over a fat-tyre folder. Take the battery out and it is lighter again. That matters if you are carrying it up a flight of stairs at a station or lifting it into a car boot every day.
What is a belt drive, and why does it matter?
Instead of a chain, the P20 uses a carbon-reinforced belt. There is no oil, so nothing marks your trousers or your hall floor, it runs almost silently, and it needs far less maintenance than a chain and derailleur. The trade-off is that the P20 is single-speed, so on steep climbs you lean on the motor rather than changing gear.
What is the real-world range?
Engwe rates the 36V 9.6Ah battery at up to 100km in assist mode. In everyday Irish riding expect roughly 40km to 70km depending on rider weight, assist level, hills, headwind and temperature. For a typical Dublin commute that is comfortably several days between charges.
How long does it take to charge?
About 5 hours from empty. The battery is inside the frame and lifts out with a key, so you can carry just the battery indoors and leave the bike in a shed or hallway. Partial top-ups are fine at any time as lithium cells have no memory effect.
How small does it fold, and how quickly?
Three steps and about ten seconds gets it down to 90 x 42 x 62cm, under 0.3 cubic metres. Magnetic tyre fixation holds the wheels together so it stays as one package when you carry it. It fits most car boots, and it will go under a desk or into a hall press.
Can I ride it in the rain?
Yes. The P20 is rated IPX6 against water jets, which is a step above most e-bikes and covers heavy Irish rain and wet roads comfortably. Avoid submerging the bike or pressure-washing the motor, battery contacts and connectors, and dry the rotors after a wet ride.
Will it fit my height?
The P20 suits riders roughly 155cm to 190cm tall. Saddle height adjusts from 76cm to 102cm and the handlebar stem from 104cm to 120cm, so it has a wider fit range than most folders. Standover height is 63cm and payload capacity is 120kg including rider and luggage.
Are the colours different in any way?
No. White, Green and Kenshi Black are the same bike with a different finish, with identical motor, battery, brakes and belt drive.
Does it come assembled, and how much work is involved?
It arrives largely assembled. You will normally unfold it, fit the pedals, rear rack and fenders, then check the brakes. The assembly tool kit is in the box and Engwe's own assembly video is above. Our Dublin workshop can also build and safety-check the bike for you before collection.
Is the P20 eligible for the Bike to Work scheme?
Yes. The P20 is a pedelec e-bike and qualifies under the Irish Cycle to Work scheme through Inner City Scooters. Get in touch before you order and we will issue the quotation your employer needs.
Do you deliver, and what warranty comes with it?
Inner City Scooters ships the P20 across Ireland and the EU, with tracking as soon as the order is dispatched. In-stock bikes usually arrive within a few working days in Ireland. The bike comes with a manufacturer warranty, and as a Dublin-based store we handle parts, servicing and warranty claims directly rather than sending you overseas.
