Engwe EP-2 Pro Folding Fat Tyre Electric Bike

The Engwe EP-2 Pro is the folding fat tyre electric bike that goes wherever the ride starts, in a car boot or on a trail. A 250W brushless motor delivers 55Nm of torque up to the road-legal 25km/h EU limit, and the removable 48V 13Ah battery is rated at up to 120km in pedal assist. 20" x 4.0" Chaoyang fat tyres on one-piece alloy wheels, an adjustable lockable front fork and a Shimano 7-speed drivetrain cover sand, gravel, forest track and wet Dublin tarmac alike, and the alloy frame folds in three steps. An LED headlight with a brake light indicator and reflective stripes come as standard. In stock now at Inner City Scooters, Dublin.

The Best of Both Worlds

Fat tyres and front suspension for rough ground, a folding alloy frame for the boot of the car, and EU pedelec compliance so it is legal on Irish roads and greenways.

Engwe EP-2 Pro range chart, 120km pedal assist and 40km electric mode

Up to 120km on a Charge

Engwe rates the 48V 13Ah removable battery at up to 120km in pedal-assist mode and around 40km on the throttle alone, measured with a 75kg rider on asphalt. Real numbers depend on rider weight, assist level, hills, wind and temperature, so treat those as best-case figures rather than an everyday guarantee.

Engwe EP-2 Pro adjustable front suspension for sand, dirt, snow and gravel

Adjustable Front Suspension

The lockable front fork soaks up rough ground off-road and firms up for efficient pedalling on smooth tarmac. Combined with four-inch tyres it handles sand, gravel, dirt and snow without complaint.

Engwe EP-2 Pro 20 x 4.0 inch all-terrain fat tyres

20" x 4.0" All-Terrain Fat Tyres

The wide Chaoyang tyres spread the load and smooth out what the suspension does not, so trails, broken road and loose surfaces all feel more stable than they should on a folding bike.

Engwe EP-2 Pro one-piece alloy wheels compared with spoked wheels

One-Piece Alloy Wheels

Cast one-piece wheels replace spokes and nipples, so there is nothing to true, nothing to tension and one less thing to go out of shape after a kerb strike.

Engwe EP-2 Pro LED headlight, brake light indicator and reflective stripe

Headlight, Brake Light and Reflective Stripes

An LED headlight for the road ahead, a rear brake light that actually brightens when you pull the levers, and reflective stripes on the tyre walls. On a dark Irish evening that is a meaningful difference.

Engwe EP-2 Pro folded and loaded into a car boot

Folds in Three Steps

Frame, handlebars and pedals all fold, bringing the EP-2 Pro down to 99 x 55 x 76cm. That fits a car boot, a camper or a hall press. It weighs 30kg, so it is a two-handed lift, and taking the battery out first helps.

FAQ about the Engwe EP-2 Pro Electric Bike

Is the EP-2 Pro road-legal in Ireland?
Yes, as supplied. This is the EU version: the motor is rated at 250W and assistance cuts off at 25km/h, which meets the EU pedelec (EPAC) standard, so it is treated like a bicycle in Ireland with no tax, insurance or licence required. Ride it as supplied and in pedal-assist on public roads.
Can the speed limit be raised?
We supply and support the EP-2 Pro only in its EU configuration, limited to 25km/h. Raising the limit takes the bike outside the pedelec definition: it would no longer qualify as a bicycle in Ireland, it would fall outside Bike to Work, and it would affect both insurance and the manufacturer warranty. If you have seen a higher figure quoted elsewhere online, it refers to a non-EU market version that we do not sell.
What is the real-world range?
Engwe rates the 48V 13Ah battery at up to 120km in pedal assist and around 40km on the throttle alone, measured with a 75kg rider on flat asphalt. In everyday Irish riding expect roughly 50km to 85km in assist depending on rider weight, assist level, hills, headwind, tyre pressure and temperature.
How long does it take to charge?
About 6.5 hours from empty with the supplied charger. The battery is built into the frame and lifts out with a key, so you can charge it indoors rather than leaving the bike plugged in outside. Partial top-ups are fine at any time.
How small does it fold, and how heavy is it?
Frame, handlebars and pedals all fold, bringing it down to 99 x 55 x 76cm. It weighs 30kg, which is normal for a fat-tyre folder but is a two-handed lift. Removing the battery first makes it noticeably easier to load into a car.
Can I ride it in the rain?
Yes. The EP-2 Pro is rated IPX4 against splashing water, which covers normal Irish rain and wet roads. Avoid submerging the bike or pressure-washing the motor, battery contacts and connectors, and dry the chain and rotors after a wet ride.
Will it fit my height?
Engwe quotes a rider height range of 5'4" to 6'2", roughly 163cm to 188cm. Saddle height adjusts from 86cm to 102cm and the handlebars from 120cm to 130cm. Standover height is 69cm and payload capacity is 150kg including rider and luggage.
What are the brakes like?
160mm mechanical disc brakes front and rear. Mechanical discs need occasional cable adjustment as the pads wear, which is a two-minute job and something we will show you or do for you in the workshop. They are easy and cheap to service compared with hydraulics.
What colour will I receive?
Engwe builds the EP-2 Pro in Orange, Grey and Black, and all three are mechanically identical. Stock varies, so get in touch before you order and we will tell you what is on the floor in Ballymount.
Does it come assembled, and how much work is involved?
It arrives largely assembled. You will normally unfold the frame and handlebars, fit the pedals, then check the brakes and gears. The assembly tool kit is in the box. Our Dublin workshop can also build and safety-check the bike for you before collection.
Is the EP-2 Pro eligible for the Bike to Work scheme?
Yes. As supplied it is a pedelec e-bike and qualifies under the Irish Cycle to Work scheme through Inner City Scooters. Get in touch before you order and we will issue the quotation your employer needs.
Do you deliver, and what warranty comes with it?
Inner City Scooters ships the EP-2 Pro across Ireland and the EU, with tracking as soon as the order is dispatched. In-stock bikes usually arrive within a few working days in Ireland. The bike comes with a manufacturer warranty, and as a Dublin-based store we handle parts, servicing and warranty claims directly rather than sending you overseas.
