A quick word on the law here
Worth getting straight before you buy. In Ireland, an e-bike with a 250W motor and pedal-assist that cuts out at 25 km/h meets the EU pedelec (EPAC) standard, so it’s treated just like an ordinary bicycle — no tax, no insurance, no licence. A few of the bikes below are punchier fat-tyre or moped-style models that can do more than that. Ridden in their road-legal pedal-assist setting they’re spot on for the commute; their full power is best saved for private land.
