Pixar Electric Bikes in Ireland: M9, C1 Pro & Star 1 — Only at Inner City Scooters

Pixar Electric Bikes in Ireland: M9, C1 Pro & Star 1 — Only at Inner City Scooters

If you've been into the shop lately, you'll have noticed we keep steering people towards one particular badge on the bike racks: Pixar. There's a good reason for that. Inner City Scooters is the official — and at the moment the only — Pixar stockist in Ireland, which means every Pixar e-bike that leaves our door in Ballymount is the genuine article, with a real warranty behind it and a team in Dublin who can actually service it when the time comes. No grey imports, no guessing where the spare parts will come from.

Pixar has quietly become one of our most popular brands, and it's easy to see why once you've had a spin on one. The range covers three very different riders, so rather than another big round-up of everything in the store, we thought we'd give the Pixar bikes a proper look on their own: what each one is best for, what's actually under you when you ride it, and where it sits with the rules of the road here in Ireland.

The Pixar range at a glance

  • Pixar C1 Pro — best for the everyday city commute. A light, comfortable 28″ step-over with a 65 km range. €949.
  • Pixar M9 — best for range and carrying. A fat-tyre, full-suspension step-through with twin batteries and up to 130 km on a charge. €1,049.
  • Pixar Star 1 — best folding fat-tyre for tight spaces. Big-bike grip that folds away into the boot or the hall press. €899.

Why buy your Pixar from Inner City Scooters

It's worth saying plainly: we're the official Pixar stockist for Ireland. When you buy from us you're getting a genuine Pixar bike, set up properly before it goes out the door, covered by Pixar's warranty and backed by our own workshop here in Dublin. If something needs looking at down the line, you bring it back to a real shop with real mechanics — not a courier address and a prayer.

That matters more with e-bikes than most people realise. The frame is only half the story; the battery, the controller, the brakes and the firmware all need to match, and they all need someone who knows the bike if anything goes astray. Buying local from the official stockist takes all of that off your plate. No bother.

Pixar C1 Pro — best for the everyday commute

If your days are mostly tarmac — out to work, in for the messages, maybe a spin along the canal at the weekend — the Pixar C1 Pro is the one we point most commuters at. It's a proper grown-up city bike: a 250W motor with pedal assistance, big 28″ Chaoyang tyres and a relaxed, upright riding position that's easy on the back and the wrists.

The 36V 18Ah EVE lithium battery gives a real-world range of around 55 to 65 km, which is plenty for a week of normal commuting before you need to think about charging. It's quick-release too, so you can lift the pack out and bring it inside to charge rather than wheeling the whole bike up the stairs. A front suspension fork takes the sting out of Dublin's kerbs and potholes, front and rear hydraulic disc brakes give you confident stopping in the wet, and a Shimano 7-speed setup means you've gears for the hills as well as the flat. At €949 it's a tidy, dependable everyday e-bike with nothing fussy about it.

Pixar M9 — best for range and carrying

The Pixar M9 is the big character of the range, and the one people tend to fall for the moment they see it. It's a fat-tyre, step-through utility bike built around twin 48V 17.5Ah batteries — 35Ah combined — for a claimed range of up to 130 km. That's the kind of number that means you genuinely stop thinking about charging during the week.

It rides like a bike that wants to be useful. The step-through frame makes getting on and off a doddle, the full dual suspension and 20″ × 4″ Kenda fat tyres soak up rough ground and tram tracks alike, and there's a front basket and dual seat with footrests for carrying bits and pieces. Front and rear hydraulic disc brakes with 180 mm rotors haul it all back down to a stop, and the NFC LCD display, integrated headlight and turn signals give it a finished, road-ready feel. Gearing is a Shimano 7-speed, so you're not relying on the motor alone.

A quick, honest word on the M9: it's a chunkier, more powerful style of bike than a plain city pedelec, and it's longer and heavier with it. For public roads here we'd always recommend riding it in its road-legal 250W pedal-assist setting that cuts out at 25 km/h, and keeping any extra performance for private land. If you're not sure which side of the line your riding falls on, call in to us and we'll talk you through it. At €1,049 it's the one to go for if range, comfort and carrying capacity are top of your list.

Pixar Star 1 — best folding fat-tyre for tight spaces

Pixar Star1 Electric Bike - Inner City Scooters - Electric Bikes ireland

Short on space but not willing to give up on go-anywhere grip? The Pixar Star 1 folds. It pairs proper 20″ × 4″ Chaoyang fat tyres and a front suspension fork with a folding frame, so you get the stability of a chunky bike that still tucks into the boot of the car, under the stairs, or into a small flat. Once it's folded, you've your hallway back.

It runs a 500W motor with five levels of pedal assist and a Shimano 7-speed drivetrain on a 52T crankset, with a range of up to about 55 km. There's a rear rack for panniers or a top bag, and at 30.7 kg it's manageable to fold and shift. It suits riders roughly 155 to 190 cm tall and carries a maximum load of 120 kg.

Because the Star 1's motor is more powerful than the strict pedelec limit, the same advice applies as with the M9: for use on public roads, run it in its road-legal pedal-assist setting (250W, cutting off at 25 km/h) and save the higher-power modes for private land. We set every Star 1 up before it leaves the shop and we're happy to walk you through the settings. At €899 it's the most affordable way into the Pixar range, and a grand option if storage is your main headache.

Are Pixar e-bikes road legal in Ireland?

Here's the short version. In Ireland, an e-bike with a motor of 250W or less and pedal assistance that cuts off at 25 km/h meets the EU pedelec (EPAC) standard, and is treated just like an ordinary bicycle — no tax, no insurance and no licence needed. The C1 Pro and the M9 are built to that 250W pedal-assist standard, so for everyday road riding they sit on the right side of the line.

The thing to watch is power. More powerful or moped-style bikes — and that includes higher-output settings on fat-tyre models like the Star 1 — go beyond the strict pedelec limits. The rule of thumb we give everyone is simple: on public roads, ride in the road-legal 250W pedal-assist mode that cuts out at 25 km/h; keep full power for private land where you've permission to use it. If you're ever unsure what's allowed for your particular bike or where you ride, just ask us. We'd far rather have the chat than see anyone caught out.

(For e-scooters, by the way, the 2024 rules cap public-road use at 400W and 20 km/h — anything more powerful is for private land. Different machine, different rules.)

Warranty, Bike to Work, finance and servicing

Every Pixar bike from us comes with a 1-year limited warranty, and because we're the official Irish stockist that warranty actually means something — you bring the bike back to us in Dublin and we sort it. All three Pixar models are eligible for the Bike to Work scheme, which can take a healthy chunk off the price if your employer takes part, so it's well worth asking at work before you buy.

If you'd rather spread the cost, we offer instalments through Humm and Klarna, so you can pay over time instead of all at once. Between Bike to Work and finance, a Pixar is more within reach than the sticker price might suggest.

Come have a spin

You can read specs all day, but a Pixar makes a lot more sense once you've thrown a leg over one. You'll find us at Fashion City, Ballymount, Dublin, with the full Pixar range on the floor, and we deliver across Ireland if you can't make it in. Call in for a spin, tell us about your commute and your storage, and we'll point you at the right one — whether that's the easy-going C1 Pro, the long-legged M9, or the fold-away Star 1. As the only official Pixar stockist in the country, we'll make sure you get the genuine bike, set up right, with the team behind it to keep it going.
