Colour: Blue

The Engwe M1 Dual Battery is a moped-styled electric bike built around a 48V 250W brushless motor producing 65Nm of torque, giving it genuine hill-climbing ability while staying EN15194 certified and limited to 25km/h. Power comes from a dual-battery system pairing a 48V 15.6Ah pack with a 48V 13Ah pack for a combined 28.6Ah and 1373Wh, enough for up to 170km of range in pedal assist mode 1. Both packs are removable lithium-ion and recharge in 6 to 8 hours.

Ride quality comes from a full double suspension system with front and rear travel, 160mm hydraulic disc brakes front and rear, and 20 x 4.0in noiseless fat tyres that stay planted on city streets, gravel and light off-road trails alike. A Shimano 7-speed drivetrain handles gradients and cruising speeds, while the LCD colour display keeps speed, battery level and trip data clearly readable in any light.

The high carbon steel frame supports a 150kg maximum load and carries a roomy dual seat designed to take two riders in comfort. Front and rear lights, a brake light and turn signals are fitted as standard for safe commuting after dark. The bike weighs 43kg with both batteries and suits riders from 160cm to 190cm.

Two batteries, one very long ride

48V 15.6Ah pack — the main battery, removable and lockable for indoor charging.

48V 13Ah pack — the second battery, adding capacity without changing the ride.

28.6Ah combined — 1373Wh in total, nearly double a typical commuter e-bike.

Up to 170km — quoted in PAS mode 1 with a 75kg rider and no additional load.

6 to 8 hours — full charge time using the supplied 48V 2Ah charger.

Lithium-ion, removable — carry the packs indoors and charge from any Irish socket.

Dominate every incline

Engwe M1 Dual Battery climbing steep inclines

65Nm of torque from the 48V 250W brushless motor is what separates the M1 from a standard 250W commuter. Paired with the Shimano 7-speed drivetrain, it pulls up Dublin's steeper climbs without the rider having to fight the gradient.

Maximum safety in every ride

Engwe M1 Dual Battery braking and lighting safety features

160mm hydraulic disc brakes front and rear give consistent stopping power in the wet, while a full lighting set — front and rear lights, a brake light and turn signals — keeps you visible and predictable in traffic after dark.

Confident on any surface

Engwe M1 Dual Battery 20 inch fat tyres on any terrain

20 x 4.0in noiseless fat tyres and a full double suspension system soak up potholes, kerbs, gravel and canal towpaths alike — the M1 is as happy on a broken city street as it is on a forest track.

FAQ about the Engwe M1 Dual Battery

Is the Engwe M1 road legal in Ireland?

Yes. With a 250W motor and pedal assistance cutting off at 25km/h, the EU version of the M1 meets the EU pedelec standard and is EN15194 certified, so Irish law treats it as a bicycle. No tax, insurance or licence is needed when ridden in pedal-assist mode.

How far will the dual battery really take me?

Engwe quotes up to 170km, measured in the lowest pedal assist level with a 75kg rider and no extra load. In real Irish commuting — higher assist levels, hills, headwinds, stop-start traffic — expect meaningfully less, but the 1373Wh total still puts the M1 far ahead of a typical single-battery commuter.

How long do both batteries take to charge?

Around 6 to 8 hours using the supplied 48V 2Ah charger. Both packs are removable, so you can lift them out and charge indoors from any standard Irish socket rather than leaving the bike plugged in outside.

Can I ride it in the rain?

The M1 handles typical Irish weather — wet roads, showers and spray. Avoid deep standing water and never pressure wash it. Dry the bike after a wet ride and store it and the batteries somewhere dry.

How heavy is it, and does it fold?

It weighs about 43kg with both batteries fitted and does not fold. That weight is what a steel-framed, dual-suspension, dual-battery moped-style bike costs you — it is very stable to ride, but plan for ground-floor or shed storage rather than carrying it upstairs.

What rider height does the M1 suit?

Engwe rates it for riders between roughly 160cm and 190cm, with the saddle adjusting from 86cm to 113.5cm and a 75.5cm standover height. If you are near either end of that range, call Inner City Scooters and we will talk you through the fit.

How long is delivery to Ireland?

In-stock bikes are typically dispatched within two working days and delivered across Ireland in two to five working days. EU delivery is also available. Delivery timing is confirmed at checkout.

What warranty and payment options are available?

The M1 comes with a 12-month warranty, with an extended cover option available. Inner City Scooters handles service, spares and repairs from Dublin, and instalment payment options plus the Cycle to Work scheme are available at checkout.
